Saying one must "be repetitive … aggressive and curse as often as possible" in order to produce a successful "crunk" video, the maker of a new animated hip hop video, which is appearing on BET, is defending the message of his satirical video. The clip, which encourages it’s viewers to, among other things, "read a book," has drawn fire for its profanity and use of racial images. Though raising eyebrows from some quarters, BET said the video "is a great example of how the best animation can convey complex messages with great clarity and humor." The maker of the video indeed admits, however, that the content is not suitable for all ages and would not let his own children watch it unsupervised.
