If you're not aware, OmniNerd is currently undergoing a 100% rewrite from the ground up for version 3, the upcoming update to the site. The OmniNerd development team has been adding lines of code by the thousands and a few weeks ago, the code base was deemed stable enough to begin internal alpha testing and has kept the entire staff busy finding, reporting, and fixing bugs. However, the once buggy initial alpha release is quickly becoming stable.
As we approach the end of the alpha phase and near our beta testing, we'd like to have a list of non-staff members that would be willing to test drive the site and point out any last minute deficiencies or shortcomings that we may have overlooked. If you're interested, shoot an email to markmcb and you will get an email with beta testing details in a few weeks when we're ready to start that process.
As for what to expect, the new site still delivers the same old OmniNerd as you know it, but fills in many of the gaps you have highlighted in the past. It adds several new features that we hope will make the OmniNerd experience a more interactive one for our passive readers that don't post content, while the interactive crowd will find most everything has taken a step up from the current version. From NerdRank to content generation, everything is just a little better and easier. Overall, we are pleased with our work thus far, but still have several weeks of coding, testing, and tweaking ahead. Stay tuned!
