The Next Generation of Consoles

Late 2005 saw the release of the Microsoft Xbox 360 and by the holiday season, console gaming's 'holy grail' couldn't be found for 'love or money.' 2006 will see the release of the Xbox's two fiercest (only?) competitors: the Sony Playstation 3 (PS3), about which officials have been oddly silent, and the Nintendo Revolution, which is expected out before Thanksgiving and for under $300.
Some expect the competition to be a heavyweight battle between the PS3 and the 360, but others think the Revolution has a fighting chance with its new game-downloading interface. Any way you look at it, this should be a monster year for game consoles.
I can empathize somewhat in that it's hard to pick up games I want to try out or play because they just take a long time to beat (yes, I play some RPG's but also other scattered genres and games apply as well). Heck, there are several games right now on Gamecube, Playstation 2 (though my older brother wanted it mainly), and the PC that I've started and gotten through somewhat (in the case of something like Metroid Prime on GCN, on the final boss).
About RPGs specifically, I can first remember getting Final Fantasy 3 for the SNES and just loving the mechanics, story, graphics (at that time), etc. Likewise, I was engrossed when FFX for the PS2 came out and actually managed to beat that as well, severals ago still.
Now to the polling so I don't rant about old games as much:
1. Err, I'd have to say since I was in grade school or before. I can remember some old Texas Instruments 'computer' that used cartridges and had simple games that seemed to have graphics remiscent of olden Atari machines. Also, my brother had me hooked from the original (Japanese)Nintendo Famicom and also NES, Super Famicom (with a Super NES catridge converter thing), N64, GCN, and PS2.
2. No work, but currently 18 credit hours of school this semester. It's about 3-4 hours a day average.
3. No and no.
4. Ugh, seems like it has been declining as I get along in school. Probably 7-10 hours historically, though looking to be 0-2 currently.
5. Platformers (Mario), Adventure/Action (Metroid, Zelda), RPGs, Simulation, MMORPG (taking a break from this thankfully), some FPS.
6. Only when I had gotten pissed off after Star Wars Galaxies being changed left and right...my first large commercial MMORPG and it turned me off.

Has anyone played any of the recent games? I feel like an old man for saying this, but they're far too complex and require too much time to play. It seems like most games, especially the RPGs, require a college degree to play. So I guess I have a few questions for the new-age, older-than-18 gamers (console and computer):
