Al Qaeda, a subsidiary of the Salafi jihad, is probably the most discussed and least understood organization of fanatics in the world. What are they trying to do by blowing things up all across the globe? Are they terminally insane or is there a method to their madness?
In this article I argue that there is a definite strategy to Al Qaeda's operation and that this strategy has undergone a kind of strategic evolution. I attempt to explore Al Qaeda's strategic past, present and I offer a terrifying glimpse of a possible, perhaps probable, strategic future. The intent, of course, is to allow the U.S. and her allies to stay at least one step ahead of this malevolent yet interminably clever network.
